Exhibitions - 2005 - The Third Eye: Fantasies, Dreams and Visions

This exhibition will include some eighty works on paper, ranging from the 18th century to the present. This exhibition demonstrates the visionary power of artists who see beyond formal representation and into pure invention. These artists eschew established norms, recreating, deconstructing and distilling their subjective matter into a new reality. Foregoing traditional objectivity, their approach is often intuitive and subjective. The results can be both eurphoric and disquieting, pure and licentious, at times driven by madness and obsession.

This exhibition reveals the uncanny inventiveness of the individual artists and reminds is that, as Jonathan Swift proclaimed: "True vision is the art of seeing things invisible."

This exhibition is presented in association with Richard L. Feigen & Co.
